Hello Baby!

So these past couple of days have been very busy with getting last minute things ready for the wedding. I'm sure this upcoming week will be just as busy. I got my hair cute/dyed today and I love it. I had to put on a clean shirt when I got home though because the big shirt I was wearing was covered in poky cut hair! Well, I put on a tank top and guess what I saw when I took a picture! I have a baby belly starting in! Eeks! I'm 14 weeks and 4 days today.

I've been feeling pretty great though! Also, I have a cute picture of Michael from this morning chilling in his big boy bed. The opening is facing the wall until the computers are out of his room. :)

So tired!

So far second trimester has been interesting. I thought that during second trimester morning sickness was supposed to ease up and you were supposed to get a boost of energy. However, I am always exhausted!

Michael is always awake and happy early in the morning while I'm still dreaming of laying in bed. He's always up running around, playing and climbing on things for me to chase after him, and I do, but when I'm so tired it just wears me out even more. I will chase after him though, he is absolutely adorable and I don't want to miss out on this time with him that I will never get back, I just wish he would nap a little more regularly and I could nap with him. Lately after I eat, my head wants to drop as soon as I'm finished, or close to finishing my meal. I'm so tired right now even that I can hardly think about what I'm typing. I was trying to get Michael to take his evening nap, but he's not down for that.

Morning sickness has lightened a little bit after having that horrid day of dizziness. I still get it though, and after I eat I almost always feel sick for a while. I thought I was going to lose my lunch earlier today, but after laying on the couch for a while it helped. I suppose I should let Michael run around the living room since he's not going to nap right now and I don't want to keep him "caged" up when he's so energetic right now.

A License to Wed

Today I grudgingly got out of bed to entertain Michael who was awake at 7 this morning. I gave him a bottle and toys and went back to bed then. We have surveillance cameras in our living room and our computer/baby room and I had the t.v. on in our room in case Michael needed something so I could check on him from my bed. The bottle and toys worked for a little bit before he was unhappy about being awake and alone in his room. It was his first night alone in a long time, and his first night in his new crib. Which, with a pillow and soft comfy Toy Story blanket makes it look like a big boy bed. It's hard seeing him so grown up! Anyway, I was back up at 9 and I gave him his toys back that he had thrown out of the crib and then, I laid back down because my eyes were so heavy I could hardly keep them open.

I don't really take naps anymore and let me tell you, I am always worn out when it comes time to go to bed, or time to wake up. Half the time, even though I'm exhausted and I'm ready to go to sleep I can't. My head will hit the pillow and my body is suddenly awake enough that I can't fall asleep. So around 9:30 or so, I got up and got Michael out of bed, changed him and took him to bed with me. It was about time for Mike and I to get up and get going today, and what better way to wake someone up than with a cute, happy, hyper little boy to whack you in the face as he squeals with glee because hitting your face is a fun game.

We played with Michael in bed for a little bit, then we got up and ate waffles, and Michael had some cinnamon and sugar toast. He ate the whole slice, which I was hoping he would if I put something good on it. Then, we got ready to go, and we left to go get our Marriage License.

When we got there, I told the lady at the counter why we were there and she told us that they didn't take walk-ins from 11am to 2pm, but they did from before 11 and after 2 to a certain time. It was 11:54 already so we had about 2 hours to wait. She told us we could go ahead and fill out the application on the computer and then it would be easier when we came back. So, I filled it out, which took all of 5 minutes and we left to go get lunch.

When we had got off the freeway I had seen a place that Dad and I used to eat, Surfer Joe's. They have sandwiches and pizza, but we always got sandwiches. I remember them being really good to eat at so we went to get sandwiches. We were about to go in the door when I noticed a sign saying that their card machine was down and they could only take cash. I had a little bit of cash on me, but not enough for lunch, so we hopped back in the car and drove around looking for something to eat.

We had originally planned on taking Michael to the park today after getting our license, but it was rainy and wet. Still on the search for a place to eat, we say Chuck E. Cheese and decided we should take Michael there while we waited for 2 hours. We walked in and wondered if we were going to get any help, and we finally did. We ordered a meal of pizza, 2 drinks and some tokens. I have a few pictures on my phone of Michael riding some of the kiddie rides and having fun. He got to ride some of the rides before we ate, and he hardly ate any pizza he was so busy looking at everything. After Mike and I had our fill we got up and took him around to ride on the rides again and again before we played some games. Mike's game H2Overdrive, which he worked on, was there. I was sad that they only had one unit so we couldn't race, but you know, it's okay because we couldn't have watched Michael if we were both playing the game.

Michael climbed up to the glass on the Skee Ball machines and I had to start one of the games next to him so I could lure him back with the balls. It worked, although he was mad at me for rolling the balls up into the game and then making him get down. I worked on getting some tickets and Mike got some too. At the end, I spent the last tokens quickly earning 3-4 tickets every time while Michael rode the rides one more time. While I cleaned up the table, I had Mike take Michael up to the prize wall. I put the tickets on the counter when I got up there and was told I had to put it in the ticket eater to find out how many we had. I did so on my knees as it's meant for little kids to do. We had 99 tickets, and when I came back to the counter, Michael had been after a couple of Chuck E. Cheese dolls that were within reach. They cost 800 tickets, but you could buy the prizes with money. 1 ticket = $.01 and I figured we could get Michael some little tiny plastic toy that would be lost as soon as we were in the parking lot, or I could cough up the couple dollars and get him that toy that he wanted, and we'd have an easier time of leaving the building without a loud, limp baby fit. He was very excited to have the toy, and very upset to be put back in the car.

We got back to the Hall of Records and told the new lady at the counter why we were there and that we had already filled out the application. She told us we weren't supposed to fill it out yet and that no walk-ins at that time meant no walk-ins, which included the application. We told her that we were told to, but she shook her head no. She signed us in and told us to watch the screens and we would be called up. So, we went and found a place to sit and waited to be called up. I had to go to the atm out in the hall to get cash since they don't take visa cards, but made it back inside before they called us up. When we got up there, she had our application and asked for our ID's. It was quick and simple to do and then we left to go to the mall.

Michael fell asleep on the way to the mall, and we got him some milk while we were there, but he didn't drink it. He'd suck up a mouthful through the straw and then he'd open his mouth to let it fall out of his mouth all over him. Needless to say we stopped giving him milk. We went to Things Remembered and looked at Toasting Flutes and Serving Sets for our wedding and found some we liked. We were going to get them engraved when we saw a logo we liked and the lady told us (after filling everything out) that there was a $50 logo set up for the engravings. I guess they have to send in the information and someone sends back the logo design just for you so it can be engraved. She then told me that if we spent a total of $150 (which was $60 more than what we were spending without the engraving which didn't count towards this cost) that we wouldn't have to pay that $50 fee.

Spend $60 and get extra items, or spend $50 just for a logo.... I got Mike who had gone to sit outside of the store with Michael and we looked around for some other items. We chose a Marriage License holder, because knowing me I'll put the license somewhere safe and never see it again, because I figured it'd be nice to always know where it was. Then we looked around and found a pen holder with 2 pens in it, and we chose that to go with the "guest book" which will be a picture frame where guests can write their messages for us and it can be on display rather than having to dig out a book. So, I went back to get those and decided to have them engraved with the logo as well.

She then asked me if I'd like to join the Rewards Club. It was a $5 lifetime fee and for every $50 I spent today I would get $10 back, plus some other bonuses that earned me a total of $50 back. So of course I did that, I mean heck, why not? $45 back isn't bad.

We came home and watched some shows and relaxed the rest of the evening, and Michael played for a little bit before I put him down for a nap which he never got back up from. He had a long eventful day and now I know that I'm going to be up super early in the morning because of him going to bed at a very early hour.

Also, today, I felt pretty good! My tummy was upset once in a while, but really nothing bad and my legs hurt a bit here and there along with my back, but really nothing to complain about today. :)

Last Night

So after yesterday being a horrible day, and Bry went to pick up Mike from work (and Eric who was bringing food) I started to feel better. I actually felt better about half an hour before they got back, it took a while because the lasagna that Bry and Eric had was a lot smaller than Bry had thought it was so Mike bought a bigger one for us all to share.

They came back to the house and we all hung out, and later we ate lasagna, and cheese filled breadsticks while watching The Golden Child. An OLD Eddie Murphy movie. I am so grateful to Bry for babying me while I was so sick. I honestly didn't know what to do. Dinner almost didn't settle with me, but it finally did which made me happy. I know I've said it a lot already, but once again, Thank you Bry!

Dear Ash, Love, your Body

Dear Ash,

Today when you wake up, you are going to feel almost normal. Normal being this new pregnancy normal that you have been experiencing. You will wake up and almost feel okay. Your stomach will be slightly upset and you won't know whether or not to eat, not because you don't want to but because you won't know if it will make you sick or if it will make you feel better.

I see that when you took Mike to work you stopped at McDonalds to get him a quick breakfast, and that hash brown he gave you because he doesn't eat it? It's not the same as those french fries your tummy told you it wanted. It's greasier than they are and frankly it's not what your tummy wanted. I'll let you drop Mike off before I start messing with you though, don't worry.

Oh good, he's out of the car and you, well, let's make you dizzy for a moment. That light headed spinning, it's fun isn't it? Oh, okay you have the baby with you so I'll let you drive home, but I think that's about it.

Now you are parked safely at the apartments, I think it's okay to make you dizzy again. We never would put our dear little son in danger. So, before you get out of the car let's take you for another spin. Fun isn't it? Okay, you can get up and get Michael, but it's not going to be easy. I'm going to let you spin around a little bit while you take him in. Oh? What's that? You see people over there? Really? That little tiny bit of dizziness is almost making you wish that you knew them well enough to ask them to carry Michael up the stairs, c'mon this is too easy for me! See? You made it up the stairs just fine. Now that you have the door half open, let's get this dizzy party going on a bit better. Whoa, that almost made you drop, this is getting good now!

Aww, you had to collapse onto the couch? You can't watch Michael? Wait, you're getting up and going to bed? I'm sure Michael will love being confined to his pack n play while you sleep. If you can sleep that is. Well, he's okay for a while I guess since he has his bottle, but you think I'm going to let you just lay here and relax all day? Think again! Remember that hash brown your tummy didn't really want but you ate anyway thinking it would help? Yeah, feel your tummy tightening? Oh you realize that you're going to be sick sometime, but you don't realize it's actually coming do you. You are going to be sick all over this bed, and I'm going to laugh! Oh, darn okay you got up. Can you make it to the bathroom? I guess you can handle that part better than I thought you could, oh well, I know throwing up isn't fun, try throwing up while dizzy. How fun is that? Not fun? Oh you poor baby.

How cute, you're back in bed. I'm not even going to let you sit up. You can't lay down all day with a toddler to take care of, so I'll let you relax, only while you're laying down. I'll be a little nice to you, so you better thank me for that. Awww, how can you let your son scream like that? He's tired of being cooped up. You better get up and chase him around! What? You aren't? Are you really that weak? You poor thing, wait... what are you doing? You are calling Bry? You know it's Sunday and her and Eric are probably in the desert visiting family. She's home? She's coming over? Well, aren't you a lucky girl, oh c'mon don't cry. It's just a little bit of dizziness!

There you go, that's right get up! You can do it! You've got Michael and you're heading for the living room huh? Let's push you some more and hit you with another wave of dizziness. Wow, you made it and you unlocked the door for Bry whenever she comes, not bad. Ah, but you did collapse onto the couch again. I'm surprised you made it down the hall really.

Now what are you going to do? Michael is getting into things, he's going to fall down on the other side of the couch and get hurt and stuck. At least you saved him, and what fun is it if you lay down with your head over there. Now you don't have to chase him. I wonder if he'll get into something else, oh wow, you usually care about him getting into that. Do you like watching the room spin in circles around you? I think it's great fun.

Maybe you should complain about how mean I am to you more often, then I can play evil more often and let you know how nice I'm being to you. Bry's here, look at that! She even noticed that poopy smell coming from Michael's diaper right away, even though you just smelled it a minute or two ago for the first time. She's offering you food, I wonder if I should even let you eat. I suppose I can let you try to eat ramen. Let's just make it last for a really long time. Your poor son! You didn't even notice that he had pooped once earlier and that this was his second poop? Are you really that weak? All I did was make you dizzy enough that you couldn't sit up straight without the room spinning around you. Good thing you called her over, to take care of your boy and you. I'm sure you wouldn't have eaten anything since I wasn't letting you up. The food weakens me a little and I have to let you sit up now.

Bry said she was sending you to bed, so you're going to listen to her? Let's see if you can sleep.

Not bad, you slept on and off through the waves of dizziness for almost four hours and didn't lose your lunch. I suppose I can let you visit with Bry for a little bit. Only a little bit though, no smiling or laughing, I won't let you feel that good. You shouldn't talk too much either, you're too sick for that. You know, I think maybe you should lay down on the couch while talking to her. I'm not ready for you to feel good.

It's almost time to pick Mike up from work? Yeah right, I've still got you under a dizzy spell. Maybe his boss could bring him home, what do you think of that? You're calling him to ask? Oh, you're even offering that maybe Bry could pick him up if he could put some money in her gas tank? That's nice of you, although she doesn't seem to mind at all. Well, this just isn't that fun anymore. I'm going to keep you dizzy almost until they get back though okay? Yeah, that sounds good.

Love,
 Your Body

P.S. Stop complaining about how mean and cruel I am to you. I can be a lot meaner than this even, but I thought I'd give you just a taste of how mean I really can be.

Dear Body of Mine

Dear Body of Mine,

I know that we are pregnant, but please try to be nicer to me. Today Michael turned 13 months old and he is all over the place as usual. He is a climbing, dancing, laughing machine. I love him, but his climbing up on things so he can get into things he shouldn't keeps me up and going all day. I constantly have to go after him and "save" him from whatever doom he may face, such as pulling something down on top of him, falling off the couch, or breaking the t.v. and getting in a lot of trouble. I try to tell him no, but he thinks it is a wonderful game and I have to get up to go after him anyway. So please, try not to make me feel so bad.

I'm now in the second trimester of this pregnancy and in 3 days will be 13 weeks pregnant. Oh, oh my, scratch that I'll be 14 weeks pregnant. See? Look at what you are doing to me? This paragraph was going to be about how I still have morning sickness, but now I have to point out that you are making me lose my mind. I lost a whole week magically these last couple of days thinking that I was only 12 weeks pregnant and I'm already 13 weeks heading onto my 14th week. You know, you've been doing this kind of stuff to me a lot lately. I start talking about something and then I stop. I stop because I can't remember what I was saying, even though I just started saying it. How cruel is that? I mean I don't have the best memory to begin with and then you let my mind swim in this ocean of empty headedness? It's embarrassing really it is.

Back to the morning sickness, I'm in second trimester now, can't you let up on the morning sickness? Yes, it's great that I don't throw up nearly as often, but you sent me throwing myself into the grass right outside of Mike's work while we were going to lunch. I hadn't been feeling hot all day, but that was also mean. Mike was on his lunch break and I was taking him out, yet you cut into his lunch time just so you could rid yourself of some amazing Mongolian BBQ that I'd had earlier that day and actually enjoyed. Even worse than that, despite the fact that I had drank soda (I know I know... soda isn't the best) you treated me like I hadn't had anything to drink all day and made it come up thick and chunky. Which you've done to me plenty of times before, but this time I believe you made me hurt my epiglottis. I even watched a video on how the epiglottis worked, because Mom thought I had burned my throat (which again, I had. Pretty badly too. Every time I swallowed it sent a shooting burning up from my throat all the way into the middle of my ears.) and suggested that I suck on some Tums to coat my throat and help the burning. Sadly it didn't help at all with the non-burning feeling. I called Lori and asked if she had any ideas and she was the one who suggested I stressed the epiglottis, only she said it in simpler terms for me. I ate cold ice cream and a popsicle to help take the swelling down in my throat and it only helped a smidgen.  Luckily it was better the next day.

Still, I'm not happy at the way you have me feeling. I wake up feeling like crap most days. Warm, mushy and stinky. I'm usually so warm feeling and sick feeling that by the time Michael takes a nap all I want to do is sit and relax for a couple of minutes without feeling like I might hurl that I don't even take a shower. That of course makes me feel worse, especially when it's hot outside. I was sure I was going to break out in pimples before the wedding, but luckily you gave me enough of a break the other evening that I hopped in the shower while Mikey watched the Michael.

Also, ever since I've got pregnant, you've been cruel to my nipples. They are constantly erect as though I'm out in the freezing cold. I barely touch them wrong and it sends me into spirals of pain, so when Michael tries to climb up me to get onto the couch and grabs for the thing that sticks out the furthest, he grabs my boob, and well, the nipples are where my boob sticks out the furthest. I have screamed in pain as he's grabbed me through my shirt and bra and felt bad for him not understanding why Mama (Ash as he calls me) is yelling. I also have to admit that I'm a bit afraid of when you'll make them start to lactate. Last time they started at 20 weeks, and well that only leaves me about 6 weeks of no nipple pads. Hopefully I won't be so stupid as to not wear them when I go out in public again like I did last time thinking that my boobs didn't leak that much. Then, while at Starbucks with Mike meeting a teacher about a project they were working on I leaked right through my bra and shirt and had to have Mike supply me with napkins while I hid behind my folder.

Oh, another tidbit about the morning sickness, I really don't like heaving when I'm brushing my teeth, or when changing Michael's diaper. Thanks.

Randomly last night my legs, on the back part of my thighs were so tired and restless. I've had restless legs before, but usually in my calves, why oh why would you make that part of my leg restless? It was truly awful.

Here we go with the memory again, I was going to write about something, and wa-la! I totally don't remember what I was going to write and all I did was press Enter twice on the keyboard to start a new paragraph.

Anyway, I try to be nice to you and please you by feeding you simple things. I try to feed you the things that you tell me sound good and that you won't revoke once I've put it into you. When Michael lays down for a nap and you are tired enough, I try to lay down so you can sleep and rest, and when we can't because Michael doesn't nap that day, or whatever reason, I try to lay down when Mike is home and can watch Michael. I keep you in cool environments so you don't get overheated, which makes me even sicker and I'll even run the AC if it's too hot for you. Why can't you be a little nicer to me? I'd appreciate it so much. I have so many chores that I need to do, and yet you prevent me from doing them. I mean, heck I almost vomited this morning when I was halfway done vacuuming our little living room. Again, please try to be nicer to me as I do my best to be nice to you?

Thank you for listening (I hope),
 Ash

Uhm... okay.... and Heart Beat?!?

This morning Mikey woke me up to take care of Michael at 8:30 since he'd been up with him since 7. I rolled out of bed and took Michael to the living room and I crashed (kind of) on the couch. I dozed while he played and anytime it got quiet I'd check on him. He was usually climbing on me though. Around 10 I scooped him and his bottle up and went to cuddle with Mikey. Michael however didn't want to cuddle us, he'd much rather clobber us.

We both got up and Mikey took a shower while Michael and I watched t.v. My tummy had been upset since I rolled out of bed earlier but I was too afraid to get something to eat because of how I was feeling. After a minute, I realized I needed to use the restroom. So I used the hall bathroom and left the door open so I could hear Michael. I went to piddle and as I was sitting on the pot I watched as both of the cats went to look at the cat carrier that is sitting in the hall way. They both stopped and stared at it which I thought was interesting. Then, I heard what sounded like when the cats scratch from the inside of the container trying to get out. The cats continued to stare for a second, as they just stood there and then walked away. I couldn't look away, I hadn't seen anything inside of it, the door was closed, so if anything was inside of it I wouldn't know how they would have got into it in the first place. Nor have we ever had any creatures get into our apartment before. I just sat there and stared for a good minute, but nothing happened again.

I heard Mike get out of the shower and I called for him while I washed my hands, still watching the cat carrier. He came and asked what was up. I told him and he picked up the cat carrier and dumped it upside down. The door opened, but nothing came out. It had just been in the closed position with something sitting in front of it to keep it closed. There was nothing at all in there. He asked if one of the cats was scratching around, but I assured him that they were both perfectly still when it happened. I am so confused and have never experienced anything like it before.

We went out into the living room where Michael looked at me and said, "Ash? Up!" I love that he calls me Ash, because it's just too cute with the way he says it. He says Mama every now and again, but mostly I'm just Ash. I told him I couldn't pick him up because my tummy was upset, but he kept repeating, "Ash? Up!" while reaching both hands up to me. Mike came through the gate and so he asked him to pick him up. Mike did and then after a minute he put him down so he could get some food. Michael again looked at me and asked me to pick him up. I told him that if Daddy picked him up and handed him to me I could hold him for a little bit, so that's what happened.

Mike made us tuna sandwiches, which Michael got everywhere and then I told Mike that Bry would be here at 2. He asked to make sure if I said Bry. I told him that I had my doctor's appointment today and he had forgot that it was today. We are hoping to get to hear the heartbeat for the first time though and I'm very excited about the idea of hearing it.

As I was typing this, Mike called me back out to the living room and as I walked out there, I saw Michael passed out half laying on Mike. So adorable!  I will write more later today! :)

So Bry showed up around 1:30 so she could watch Michael while Mike and I went to the Dr.'s office. We went and waited for a good while. We found out today that if we got insurance through Mikes work it was really bad and we'd be paying more money out than we could afford to from his paycheck.

The Dr pulled us in and said we would try to listen to the heart beat, but that we might not be able to yet. (The joys of being overweight and pregnant) We couldn't find the heartbeat so she did an ultrasound to see where the baby was located and we got to see our little one. For the first time I got to see baby and know what I was looking at on this machine. I could see baby's entire body from head to toe and little one was dancing all around, kicking it's feet. After that, she tried again and we got the heartbeat. The rate was 158 but it was so exciting to see and hear. :) It makes it that much more real. The morning sickness doesn't make me feel like I'm pregnant, it just makes me feel like I'm sick.

When we saw the baby I looked at Mike and saw a big smile on his face, and I'm sure I had the same big smile on mine as well.

Bry had asked if I could ask what we could take for heartburn and we were told we could take Tums, among other things. My next appointment isn't until June 7th which is in one month. Next big thing to look forward to? My wedding!

Bry and I also hung out afterwards while the guys were at work. We took my 13 week photo, which I couldn't find my black tank top that I was planning to use for all my photos!

And I also got a cute picture of Michael and Bry. He leaned in to kiss her it was way too cute!

First Tri & Old Wives Tales

So just for fun and being silly because I don't believe in Old Wives Tales at all, I thought it would be fun to see what they had to say about my pregnancy so far. I figured if I remember I can do an updated list each trimester. ;)

Old Wives Tale #1:  Heartburn
If a pregnant woman experiences heartburn throughout the 9 months of pregnancy, she’ll have a baby born with a full head of hair.

I did have heartburn last pregnancy and Michael was born with hair, I've already had heartburn this pregnancy (it came later last time) so maybe this one will be born with hair too ;)

Old Wives Tale #2:  Heart Rate
If the baby’s heart rate is above 140 bpm, it is said that the baby will be a girl.  If it is under 140 bpm, then it will be a boy.

Mike and I are hoping to hear the heartbeat for the first time tomorrow at our appointment. Michael's heart rate was higher than 140 though and he was still a boy.

Old Wives Tale #3:  Shape of Belly
If you are carrying high with a big, round belly, you are having a girl.  If you are carrying low with a smaller belly that sticks straight out, it’s a boy.

Okay, so it's too early for me to tell you what's going on with this pregnancy and a belly, but last pregnancy? I had a boy and I looked like this! I think this OWT said I was having a girl. I was 39 weeks pregnant with Michael here and I think I've always heard this OWT the opposite way around.

Old Wives Tale #4:  Ring Test
Using a string, hang your wedding ring over your pregnant belly.  You are having a girl if the ring swings back and forth  and it’s a boy if it swings in a circle.

Okay so again, I'm doing all of this because it is totally silly to do and so I tried it. Uhm, my ring didn't move. I jiggled it a bit and it swung back and forth which means a girl. I tried to jiggle it into a circle but it didn't want to without me forcing it to. :shrugs:

Old Wives Tale #5:  Shape of Mom’s Face
When your face gets fuller and rounder when pregnant, it means you’re going to have a girl.  If your face is long and narrow, it’s a boy.

Uhm yeah... what if I'm already chunky with a fuller rounder face? lol Does that just point to a girl automatically? If so Michael should have been a girl... :rolls eyes:

Old Wives Tale #6:  Key Test
This test involves a key.  If you pick up a key at the top (the roundest part), you are going to have a boy.  If you pick up the key at the bottom (smallest part), you are going to have a girl.  If you happen to grab the key in the middle, congrats, it’s twins!

According to this one I'm having a boy, but I always pick my keys up from the top that I can think of.

Old Wives Tale #7:  Mayan Tale
The Mayan tale adds the mothers age at conception and the year of conception.  If the result is a even number then mom is having a girl.  If the result is an odd number then a boy is on the way!

Okay, so last year when I got pregnant, I was 24 and it was the year 2009.  2033 is an odd number and hey look, Michael was a boy. This year, I was 25 and it's 2010.  2035 is an odd number, so according to this I'm having another boy.

Old Wives Tale #8:  Drano Test
The drano test combines a tablespoon of Drano and urine together.  If the mixture turns green, it’s a girl.  If it turns blue, it’s a boy.

I haven't tried this, but it's an interesting idea hahaha.

Old Wives Tale #9:  Acne
If you have acne while pregnant, it’s a girl.  It’s thought that acne during pregnancy is caused by the extra hormones.

Well, no acne last time and I had a boy. I have had a pimple, but I'm pretty sure that's because my makeup was caked on a bit too much in that one spot. Besides that I'm sure I might have more acne this time around just because I'll be pregnant through the summer!

Old Wives Tale #10:  Cravings
People believe that if you are craving salty foods while pregnant, you can count on having a boy.  If you crave sweets, fruit, and orange juice, you are having a little girl.

Okay, so far this one applies to both Bry and I. Bry has a sweet tooth and is having a girl. I however eat salty foods to help me feel better. I eat them all the time. So according to this I'm having a boy. I don't remember with Michael.

Old Wives Tale #11:  Smell of Garlic
If a pregnant woman eats a clove of garlic and the smell does not come out of her pores, it’s a girl.  If the smell seeps out of her pores, it’s a boy.

Uhm what? I can't even stand garlic while pregnant!

Old Wives Tale #12:  Skin under Left Eye
The eye test is when a “V” or “branches” appear when you pull down the skin under your left eye.  If you see a “V” or “branches” in the white part, you’re having a girl.

:Runs to the bathroom mirror: Just as I thought! I have branches in the white of my eye as this old wives tale says. I don't think that really has to do with the gender of your child though. Either way, that points to a girl for me.

Old Wives Tale #13:  Previous Kids
This tale only applies if you have had previous kids.  If you have and that child’s first word was momma, you will have a girl.  If your first child’s first word was dadda, you’ll have a boy.

Well, Michael's first parent word was Dadda, so that points to us having another boy.

Old Wives Tale #14:  Time of Conception
The person that is most aggressive in bed at the time of conception is the opposite of what the baby will be.

Well now, that's no help at all! While I know what happened with Michael (although aggressiveness I can't remember) I have no idea how (aside from the obvious fact that we had sex) we got pregnant this time. It was definitely one of those, a baby comes when a baby is ready to kind of pregnancies. Not that I was disappointed that I was pregnant. Just surprised.

Old Wives Tale #15:  Legs
If your legs get really big, you’re having a boy.  If your legs stay in shape and lean, it’s a girl.

Oh yeah? Thanks. I'm a big girl already and was last time. I guess that's another point for it being a boy since my legs aren't in shape or lean to begin with.

Old Wives Tale #16:  Moodiness and a Little Pecker
If you are really moody, you are having a girl since you have another extra girl hormones in you.  Your pregnancy will make you smile and be more happy if you are having a boy because there’s a little penis inside you.

Well, I don't think that's fair either. I was very happy and smiley last time around, but I'm sure if you asked Mike I was pretty "moody" too. I know my emotions were completely out of control. So far it's the same in that regard, so is that a point for a boy or girl?

Old Wives Tale #17:  Bread
If you eat the ends of bread, it’s a boy.  If you eat the middle of the loaf, it’s a girl.

I much prefer the middles of the loaf, and always have. So Michael should have been a girl and this one should be too. Hmmm.

Old Wives Tale #18:  Chinese Gender Chart
The Chinese Gender Chart claims to have an accuracy rate of over 90%.  It is based on how old the mother is at conception and the month that she conceived.

So I was 24 with Michael and we conceived in July, it says Michael should have been a boy. Being 25 and conceiving in February says this one will be a boy as well.

Old Wives Tale #19:  Mom’s Beauty
Basically you are having a girl if your beauty disappears during pregnancy.  It is said that the girl “steals” the mother’s beauty.  If you think that pregnancy has never made you look more beautiful, you might just be having a little boy.

Well, I don't think my "beauty was stolen" last pregnancy and it's early still, but I don't think it's been stolen this pregnancy either  so that points to another boy.

Old Wives Tale #20:  Dream of Sex of Baby

If you have dreams that you are having a boy, you will have a girl.  If you dream about having a girl, it will be a boy.  Dreams show the opposite of what you are having.

Okay so last pregnancy I dreamed Michael was a girl and he was indeed a boy. This pregnancy I've dreamed that the baby will be a boy, so that points to girl.

Old Wives Tale #21:  Clumsy vs. Graceful
If the pregnant woman is graceful throughout her pregnancy, she’s having a girl.  If she becomes clumsy, she’s having a boy.

Well, again that's not fair. I've always been clumsy. So that's automatically a boy again.

Old Wives Tale #22:  Toddlers
If a toddler boy expresses interest in a pregnant woman, she is having a girl.  If he doesn’t show interest, she’s having a boy.

Well now, Michael has been showing interest in Bry and she's having a little girl. (Ahem, Michael's girlfriend!) I'm his Mommy though so how does this one work for me? I guess if he gets extra cuddly later on?

Old Wives Tale #23:  Side You Most Rest On
If a pregnant woman prefers to lay on her left side, she’s having a boy.  If she prefers resting on her right side, she’s having a girl.

I definitely prefer my left side, and did last time too. So boy for both.

Old Wives Tale #24:  Hands
When the pregnant woman is asked to show her hands, it’s a boy if she keeps her palms down and a girl if she shows her palms up.

Interesting. I'm not sure what this one means for me. I showed the computer my hands, but did it more of a "hands up" style for cops. I then went to the next natural position for showing my hands and it was palms up, so I guess that means a girl.

Old Wives Tale #25:  Dad’s Weight Gain
If the dad-to-be gains weight while you are pregnant, it’s a girl.  If he doesn’t gain weight, you’re having a boy.

Well, Mikey gained weight last pregnancy and it was a boy. So far I don't think he's gained weight so boy?

Old Wives Tale #26:  Breast Test
If a pregnant woman’s left breast is larger than the right breast, she’s having a girl.  If the right breast is larger, it’s a boy.

This one says boy.

Old Wives Tale #27:  What Do You Think?
71% of the time, the mom-to-be knows what she is having.

Well, last time I dreamed I was having a girl early on and then had no clue that I can remember. This time I really think it's a boy, we'll find out hopefully in 5 weeks.

Old Wives Tale #28:  Morning Sickness
If you had a smooth pregnancy with no morning sickness, it’s a boy.  If you were sick or felt really nauseous during your pregnancy, count on a girl.

HA! HAHAHAHAHAHA! Excuse my laughter... I had the worst morning sickness you could ask for last pregnancy (okay so I know some ladies have it worse than I did) and I had a boy. This time around it's definitely easier to deal with, but if you just read my last entry, you'll know that I'm 13 weeks tomorrow and still dealing with morning sickness. Either way this says it's a girl.

  Old Wives Tale #29:  Areolae
If your areolae (the part around your nips) have darkened, it’s a boy.

Erm.... What if I don't know?

Old Wives Tale #30:  Protein
When a pregnant woman craves meat and cheese, count on a boy.

Well, I could eat meat last time around and we had a boy. This time around though, I can't stand meat. It makes me sick just thinking about it half the time. So that points to a girl.

Old Wives Tale #31:  Feet

Are your feet colder now that you are pregnant?  If so, you just might be having a boy.  If your feet have stayed the same before pregnancy and during, you’re having a little girl.

The same, so a girl for both.

Old Wives Tale #32:  Hair on Legs
If the hair on your legs has been growing at record speeds, you might be having a boy.

Uhm yup. Always been the same. So that should have meant girl for both.

Old Wives Tale #33:  Hands are Dry
If your hands are constantly dry, it’s a boy.

K, so a boy? Well, my hands aren't dry right now, but the were a week ago.

Old Wives Tale #34:  Urine
What color is your pee?  If it is bright yellow, you will have a little boy.  If your urine is a dull yellow, plan on a girl.

Uhm it totally depends on if I'm hydrated or not. So this one is no help at all!

Old Wives Tale #35:  Headaches
If you are having headaches, you might be carrying a boy.

I've had a couple so that points to a boy.

Old Wives Tale #36:  Baby Names
It is said that when you can only think of specific names for a boy or a girl, you will have that particularly baby.

Well, considering I've had a girl name picked out since I was like 16 I should have had a girl last time around. Not telling you what it is though. You can find out if it's a girl ;)

Alrighty so I'm gonna tally it up!

Girl: 11 points

Boy:  14 points

So according to these so far I'm having a boy ;) That was silly and fun.

Lazy Day and Mother's Day

Today is just another lazy day. I've been getting stuff for the wedding together (the little that I actually have to do, compared to what they do for me) and we bought Mike's suit and Michael's little tuxedo/suit too the other day. Way cute!

Today I woke up to Michael jabbering at Mike and I. Even though I was exhausted still, I climbed out of bed, got dressed and grabbed my talkative little boy. We played in the living room, and I ate chips and dip from my leftover Mothers Day lunch yesterday.

Mother's Day. My second one so far. Mike took me out to eat at Chili's and we ordered appetizers. Mike only ever wants the Southwest Eggrolls for an appetizer and I really can't blame him. I asked if we could order chips and dip too though because they were so cheap. The salt in them sounded good. So, we got two appetizers (a first for not going out with a huge group!) and I ate some of the chips and one eggroll. Since we were out for lunch (avoiding crowded dinners) I got a turkey sandwich which sounded amazing, and Mike got a grilled chicken sandwich. Michael got to have a corn dog, which he ate almost the whole thing!

When our food arrived, I ate a fry or two. I kept looking at the sandwich, fantasizing about how good it must taste, but unable to bring myself to taste it. I finally did taste it after a couple of more ketchup and fries. (Mmm salty....) One bite was all I had. I almost couldn't swallow it. For some reason it was too much of a "bad" flavor. My stomach was flipping and it just didn't taste right while my tummy was upset. Sad, I put it down and continued to eat my fries. Mike and Michael finished, and I asked for two boxes. One for my sandwich, and one for the chips and dip. I had a great time though despite not being able to eat the main part of my meal.

So this morning when I got out of bed and wasn't feeling well I knew I had to put something in my stomach and those leftover chips sounded great. I sat down and ate quite a few while Michael ate a banana. My stomach still wasn't happy, but at least now it had something in it. Mike got up and told me he was going to take a shower. A couple minutes later I let Michael through the gate to the rest of the house and he went straight for the bathroom door where Mike was. Mike was just starting the shower up and Michael was so excited he almost climbed in fully clothed. So the two of us managed to get his clothes off of him and let him in the shower.

I joined the two of them in the shower as well, until Michael decided he was ready to get out. I grabbed my towel and got a bit dry, then grabbed Michael in his towel and went over to my bed. I dried him off and then set him in his pack n play. It was cute because instead of fussing or crying because I pinned him up, he was cuddling with his towel, and just sat there wrapped up in it. It's the first time I've seen him enjoy being dried off. I quickly finished drying myself off and got dressed. Then I grabbed him and took him to put a diaper on before he had a naked accident.

I set him down on the changing table and knew that I had to hurry up and get him changed. I had been dumping his diapers in an empty box at the end of the changing table because it was really easy, and the box needed to be taken to the dumpster anyway. (We have a diaper pail, but it sometimes takes a lot of force to close) The smell of a poopy diaper from earlier was wafting up into my nose. It hit me hard and my body jerked.  I rushed to put Michael's diaper on as my body retched again. I gagged as I retched a third time and finished putting Michael's diaper on. I swung him into his crib as fast as I could. I turned around as my body retched again, once more before I got out the door, only this time I had to have my hand over my mouth because it was full. I barely made it into the bathroom as my body gave in. Once again, I was worshiping the porcelain throne. Tomorrow I am thirteen weeks pregnant and will be in the second trimester. So much for it easing up by then.

Mike had just finished getting out of the shower when he heard me in the bathroom, he called out and asked me if I was okay, but there was no possible way for me to answer that. He came to the bathroom and asked if I needed water, I managed a yes and he was gone. He was back in a couple moments and I tried to reach the toilet paper, but asked him for some. He told me it was right in front of me thinking I was still searching for it, but I had snot a mile long coming out of my nose and couldn't lift my head. He tore me some tissue as I stayed bent over the toilet ready for whatever my body was going to throw at me. Luckily, I was done. He rubbed my back for a moment and then went to either finish getting dressed or I don't know what. I told him he'd probably have to fix Michael's diaper as it was put on in a hurry. I swished with water and stood up. That's right, I asked Mikey to take the diapers out since that was what got me. He did that as I went and brushed my teeth.

I was finished before he got back up, so I went to get Michael. I laid him down in the crib and fixed his diaper then we went into the living room so he could play and I could rest. Mike came back in and started making lunch (leftover spaghetti that he had made last night). As Michael was playing, I noticed that I hadn't fixed his diaper like I thought I had. He had a diaper wedgie like none I've ever seen. An entire left butt cheek was hanging out of his diaper and so I got down on the floor and crawled over to him to fix it before he pooped and it exploded everywhere. I fixed it and wanted to cry. I had poop up under my fingernails, because magically, he had pooped in the last five minutes and not got it everywhere. I went and washed my hands extremely well, trying not to cry. Then I grabbed Michael and changed him again. When I got into the living room and had sat down I noticed I'd done it again. Michael once again had a diaper wedgie from hell.

Mike had just made him a jelly sandwich though and as he gave it to him, he was able to fix the diaper. Mike and I ate and watched The Prince of Persia. Which we enjoyed. Now Mike is at work and Michael is passed out. A bit ago he stirred and talked in his sleep which was really cute. Next year, I will have two little ones on Mother's Day :)

It's so hot....

Not really a lot to tell about the last three days. I guess I can start with Sunday though. On Sunday we woke up and were getting ready to leave so Mike could be at work by 10 or 11am (I can't remember which right now haha) anyway, we were about to walk out the door when it hit me. The last two strawberry waffles did not want to be my breakfast, so I rushed to the closest toilet to plead for my life as my body rid itself of them. Why did I plead for my life? I had a stuffed up nose, and had not had anything to drink. I don't like drinking anything for breakfast, it's just to early. I wish I had of drank something though, because thick non digested waffles from 5 minutes ago coming back up will not come back up easy.

Gross? Yes, so gross. It was so thick that it would get stuck in my throat and I wouldn't be able to breathe, let alone when it did come up and wanted to come through my nose but couldn't because it was all blocked off. Mikey, my dear Mikey stood behind me in case I needed anything. He had a bottle of water ready for me and he got me clean toilet paper so I could blow my nose after I knocked the current roll into the cat litter. (In this bathroom I keep the toilet paper on the back of the toilet because the little holder sits under the hand towels!)

I couldn't stop being sick and I knew we were supposed to be out the door and on our way already. On top of that after being sick like that I am always so weak and shaky that I barely have the energy to stand, let alone drive. So Mikey asked me (probably half way through me being sick) if he should take the car. He had already let his co-worker know that he would be late. I shook my head thinking I could do it, but after I was finished I knew there was no way that I could drive, even just the drive home if he drove us there. So, I told Mikey to take the keys. This normally wouldn't seem wrong, but he only has his permit and not his license. Mikey is a good driver though and I knew he would be good/safe so I let him go. That left me stuck in the house all day without a vehicle and it felt so weird not having taken Mikey to work myself.

Monday, Mikey worked a late shift and I didn't really do much that day. After I dropped him off at work though I stopped by Wal-Mart. Luckily, the Wal-Mart has a McDonalds inside so I got a Cheeseburger Happy Meal. Sadly they messed up the burger, I told them no onions, so they gave me one with onions and no pickles. I love pickles and the hot pickles they put on their burger actually sounded kind of good. Oh well, I wiped off the onions and Michael and I shared the burger and fries. I just needed something so I didn't pass out. Michael got a toddler toy which are toys for kids age 1-3 and he played with that as well. I had also ordered a milk on the side so I got the kid soda and Michael for the first time drank through a straw. Okay, I take that back it's the second time. He drank my Jamba Juice through a straw before, but it was still high up in the straw so he didn't have to do much. The milk he had to suck up all by himself!

So we walked around and I bought him some new shirts (only $3 each) and some new cups with straws in them. I also bought some more carpet cleaner so we can clean our living room (let's get that smooshed black banana out of the carpet! Yay! Okay and a whole bunch of other stains that I have no idea how they got there... seriously how does a carpet get so freaking dirty???) I think that's about all that happened on Monday really. Oh, I take that back, I bought Michael a harness, one that has a puppy on it. I hate harnesses, but I bought it because I think it will work best for where we are at now. Michael can have the freedom to walk around in higher traffic areas and not have to be strapped to his stroller for long periods of time which leads to a good for so long, and then very fussy baby.

Yesterday, Mikey had another late day at work, didn't go in until 4pm. We hung out most of the day, got on the computers, watched t.v., played with Michael, the usual stuff. Then I took Mikey to work. When I got home I was going to drive around to get the mail, but had already parked in an open spot next to my apartment before I thought of the mail. So, I decided we could walk over to get the mail.

Now, the walk to our mail box isn't a long walk, we live in a very small apartment complex. The mail box isn't right around the corner either though and it was too hot to carry Michael over there. He's getting big and carrying him longer distances in the heat makes me tired and sick. Heck, I get sick carrying him up our stairs sometimes, how lame is that? Anyway, I carried him past the cars and set him down on the sidewalk. That made him happy.

Michael is a very curious little boy and everything is :point: "What's that?" or "What is that?" He says both, and it's almost continuous. So being allowed to get down on the ground and walk around was very exciting. He ran to the trees, which we carry him over to so he can touch them on our way to the car and he ran to the bushes. I managed to get him going in the right direction somehow, maybe I carried him, but we got to the big grassy area by the pool. (Obviously the pool is gated off) He ran around in the grass then he started going the wrong way. I hoped to distract him by pointing at things and asking him what they were so he would investigate, but there were plenty of things for him to investigate the way he was going. So I went over grabbed his hand and we started walking towards the playground. No one was there so I set him down in the wood chips to walk around and play. He wasn't really that interested, so I put him on a slide and slid him down the end of it. Still not that interested, he got off by himself. He ran around and banged on some of the poles which was fun, but he wanted back in the grass where there were bushes and trees and other plants. The mail box is on the other side of the playground and Michael was going the wrong way again so I picked him up (which didn't make him happy) and put him up on the jungle gym itself. I was nervous to let go of him because if he got up and ran to the other side he could just fall off and I couldn't catch him. I finally let go of him figuring I could grab him before he got that far and all he wanted to do was get down, so he backed up on his stomach like he does to get off a chair or the couch most of the time and tried to reach the ground by going over the slide. I guided him down the slide and he was off and running again.

I picked him up and carried him over to the mail box, which luckily for me was interesting enough to not make him angry for being picked up. By the time I had got the mail and started back though, he was ready to get down. So I set him back down in the play area and let him go. He went to the side where we needed to go, got out and went straight towards a bush, by the time I got there he was ready to go down the sidewalk towards the parking lot so I had to set him straight. He ran through the grass towards the trees and I continued the way were supposed to go. He noticed that I was "far away" and called out after me. I pretended to run a little bit further and he started coming after me. Every time I stopped though, he would stop.

At one point he noticed someone's stairs and knew he needed to climb them. I got him down from the one step he had climbed and tried to walk him the way we needed to go while holding his hand, but he did what he does best when he's angry and went limp. So I dragged him a couple of inches by just hanging onto his hand, hoping he would put his feet down and stand up. (Okay so I didn't drag him, because his feet weren't touching the ground, but it felt like dragging him) Now when Michael gets angry and goes limp, it's not just a silent limp, it's a red in the face, screaming, crying, I'll arch my back if it helps, gone limp baby. I don't know where he got it from, but when it's not frustrating it's rather amusing. After I set him down in the grass, he got up and started back towards the stairs so I picked him up. Of course that made him mad, so I gave him my keys. Something he's not allowed to have because I'm afraid he'll drool in the clicker and make it stop working. That helped until we went up our stairs. I wouldn't let go of the keys because I didn't want him to drop them and I was letting him climb up the stairs himself. Once he started getting really mad I just picked him up again and let him have the keys, but draped the lanyard over his neck. Well, that was a bad idea because he still thought I was holding onto them and he started to pull on his neck with them. I took them off and opened our door and laid the limp fussy baby on the carpet inside the door.

I let him fuss, and figured he'd get over it. He didn't though, so I got his bottle and gave it to him and put him in his crib for a nap. He fell asleep for a little bit which was nice, but then he woke up screaming and crying again. He was still angry at me. I figured maybe playing in the living room would make him happy but it didn't and almost half an hour later when he was still throwing a fit I made another bottle and laid him back down. He didn't nap, but he laid there quietly and drank the bottle.  When he was done, he was happy and in a good mood.

We picked Mikey up from work and then went to Alberto's where I got a wet bean rice and cheese burrito that I'd been craving for days. It hit the spot and was amazing. I ate the whole thing. I was almost too full to move after that, but it was worth it!

Today so far has just been hot. Woke up and took Mikey to work, bought him a drink and took it to him, then came home. Turned on the AC and sat down to watch The Biggest Loser on Hulu which aired last night while the house and I cooled down and Michael drank a bottle. Then, Michael and I went to the living room so I could clean it up. We have ants again. We haven't had ants for a good while (since we moved in and fought them off) but it's hot again and here they are. I picked up all the toys and trash (a couple of plastic bags that Michael had emptied the contents of from the Wal-Mart trip the other day and a drink bottle or two that Michael likes to play with after we drink them) and started vacuuming. I got the whole living room vacuumed but then I was done. I was hot and sick. I had hoped to get the ants that are on the couch vacuumed up too at the very least, but I just couldn't do it. I sat down before I got really sick. Michael played for a bit and then I saw him sitting in the entry way. There are some ants over there too (continuing the line from the back of the couch) so I called him. I'm pretty sure he ate some ants because he was "chewing" and then made a really odd face. Like something didn't taste right, and there was an ant on his cheek that had been smooshed. He laughed and came over to me and then played for a bit while I rested. I made him a bottle and put him in his crib and now he's napping while I'm typing.

I'm going to go make myself something to eat, because while I'm not sick feeling anymore I am hungry. Which reminds me of something I wanted to write down so I didn't forget it. This pregnancy I have major food aversions towards meat. Meat makes me so sick. I cannot stomach it at all. I was amazed that I was able to eat the McDonald's burger, but I mean... those patties are so non-existent, maybe that's why I was able to stomach it ;). Also, lately while being sick I lost my sense of smell. Which was a blessing and a curse. I didn't have to deal with strong odors that make me sick, but I can't taste anything and that makes eating a nightmare. Nothing tastes good which upsets my stomach. Plus, while sick I've felt like my stomach contents have been rotting, and I have a horrid taste in my mouth that I can't get rid of. I can chew gum, brush my teeth, drink water, swish with mouth wash and it only gets rid of the taste for maybe a minute tops. I think it's my body over reacting like my sense of smell normally would, only with my taste. It's my saliva that tastes rank. I don't know why, but it does. It's been getting better as I've been getting over my cold but it's not completely back to normal yet.

After I pick Mikey up today at 4 we're going to go register for our wedding :) How exciting!
